Stylish, Award-Winning Designs to Transform Your Bathroom

2014 has been a good year for Australian-designed bathroom designs. Several Australian bathroom products have won recognition in national and international design contests like the Good Design Awards and iF (International Forum) Design Awards.

Both the iF Design and the Good Design awards are well-known and widely recognised for their endorsements of superior design quality and outstanding innovation.

The awards highlight some of Australia’s best talents and brilliant designs – right from a 22-piece complete bathroom collection to a mixer tap that promises not to scald your fingers.

Here are some brilliant products that excite the JEDI Plumbing team:

Caroma’s Marc Newson Collection

This bathroom collection, that includes toilets, showers, baths, taps and a urinal, was the overall winner of the Good Design Awards and a winner of the iF Product Design Award. Industrial designer Marc Newson collaborated with Australian bathroom maker Caroma, for this completely new approach that combines usefulness with visual appeal.

According to the judges of Good Design Australia, the product exemplifies the principles of original design and ‘form following function’. The collection, which has patented installation technology, incorporates a number of innovative ideas like a toilet pan flushing configuration and a policy of no wall plates or base flanges for tapware.

Kawa Tapware

Designed by Phoenix Tapware, Kawa (meaning river in Japanese) was another winner of iF Product Design Award. In this patented design, the low profile handle is effectively concealed and blends into the body of the mixer tap. The product, designed for smooth water flow, also allows for maximum water saving – thus combining sophistication with usefulness.

Lindoni Scald Guard Mixer Tap

Winner of last year’s Good Design Award, this mixer tap designed by Fix-A-Tap Australia, aims to prevent accidental scalding among young children. It uses an inbuilt cartridge that is designed to return to the cold setting automatically, when the tap is turned off at any position.

There have been several thermostatic mixer taps that offer scald protection, but this product is different in that it has been priced under $100, making it an affordable solution for Aussie families.

3D Durastone Tile

Another winner of the Good Design Award 2014, this fully unglazed 3D porcelain tile with a natural finish, promises to make your bathroom walls stand out. Designed by Everstone Pty Ltd, this product is available in 90cm x 30cm size, featuring continuous design patterns like 3D Bloom and 3D Ispring. These tiles are available in 4 different natural colours, to match your bathroom décor.

Rogerseller – Amelie

Designed by Rogerseller and winner of Good Design Awards 2014, this sleek and modern recreation of the traditional claw-foot bath will add some glamour to any bathroom. This product has been inspired by ‘The Meridienne’, a 19th century French chaise lounge with a high headrest and low footrest.

Made of lightweight acrylic called Lucite, this bath is strong, long-lasting, chemical and scratch resistant, and is also warm to touch. It can be repaired on site, making it an attractive long-term option.

Bathroom renovations are always interesting, and even minor changes go a long way in changing the look and the feel of the whole room. While all of us look to combine functionality with visual beauty, many believe that most of the exciting products are beyond our budgets. At JEDI Plumbing, we work to fulfil your bathroom dreams and strive to obtain the right products that match your budget, your water-saving goals, the available space, and the effect you are going for.
